In the same way the rebels who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him. (27:44)

Acts 2:41-42 (NLT)
41 Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all.
42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.
Acts 4:34-35 (NIV)
34 that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.
Acts 2:43-45 (NLT)
43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.
A kibbutz literally means a collection. The kibbutz ideal is based on communal living that combines Zionism and socialism. The main motto is: “from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” Today there are 268 Kibbutzim with 117,300 residents or 1.6% of the total Israeli population.
Degania was the first Kibbutz, founded in 1909 by the World Zionist organization under the Ottoman rule on the shores of Lake Kinneret. All aspects of life are held in common. All decisions are made by voting in a general committee. There is no private property. In most kibbutzim, children are raised together and not in their parents’ homes to socialize them to the Kibbutz ideology and to free the mothers to share equally in all the Kibbutz aspects. All members of the kibbutz eat together in communal dining halls.
Agriculture is the major economy system for self-sufficiency. Agriculture in Degania consists mainly of growing bananas, avocados, and dates and farming fish and cattle. Many Kibbutzim later introduced manufacturing and tourism to help their economy. Kibbutz Degania has a diamond factory earning several million dollars a year. Most of today’s modern Kibbutzim shed some of their original characteristics, for example, the kids are raised with their parents.

1. The early believers did not sell all their possessions.
2. The early Christians’ sharing was totally voluntary.
3. This was not a permanent practice but a temporary measure.
